Introducing 2026.1.

ePublisher 2026.1 centers on AI-enabled documentation. Turn on the new Generate Assistant setting and Reverb 2.0 publishes with a chat-style AI Assistant in the Reverb Menu — grounded in your own published documentation, citing the topics its answers came from, and re-searching your Knowledge Base with every question.

Around that, the release changes how large documentation sites are assembled and addressed. A Reverb 2.0 site can now be composed from parcels that separate teams publish on separate schedules. The new Source ID landmark format turns the identifier an author already wrote — a FrameMaker ID, a DITA element ID, a Markdown++ alias — into the URL a reader sees and the Assistant cites.

The publishing tools moved too. Designer opens, builds, synchronizes, and deploys Express projects on its own, and Reverb 2.0 caches landmark, search, and book-index data across browser sessions so large output loads faster on every revisit.

AI Assistant in Reverb 2.0

Turn on the new Generate Assistant setting to add a chat-style AI Assistant to the Reverb Menu, alongside Contents and Index. Connected to WebWorks Platform, it answers from your own published documentation and cites the topics its answers came from. Every question runs a fresh search against your Knowledge Base.

Federated Documentation Sites

A Reverb 2.0 site no longer has to come from one project. Each team publishes its own parcel on its own schedule, and an AutoMap composition job assembles the deployed parcels into a single site with shared navigation, search, and index — in seconds, without rebuilding any content.

Author-Controlled URLs

The new Source ID landmark format exposes a paragraph's authored identifier — a FrameMaker ID, a DITA element ID, or a Markdown++ alias — as its Reverb URL. The same address the AI Assistant cites from: a name the author chose, not one the build system generated.

Faster Large Output

Reverb 2.0 now caches landmark, search, and book-index data across browser sessions, so revisits to large, multi-parcel output load faster and landmark URLs resolve immediately. Republishing one parcel refreshes only that parcel's cached data.

Designer Works on Its Own

Designer now opens, builds, synchronizes, and deploys Express projects directly, so you no longer need Express installed to use Designer fully. Express is unchanged and remains available; because Designer no longer depends on it, the Express license previously bundled with Designer has been removed.
